“We have seen the future and it is solar! We are delighted to be linked with this wonderful event because school students who enter SunSprint 2007 will learn so many positive and useful skills and values. To name just a few: the social skills needed for teamwork; the practical skills of model building; the pleasure of creativity and invention; the hands-on experience of science, engineering, electronics, mathematics and physics; and the buzz of achievement from seeing a project through and pitting your model against those of your peers. To top off all that, there’s the fun of travelling to the race events and, for the winners, the reward of success, cash prizes and going on to the next and more competitive stages in the Australian-International Model Solar Car Challenge (AIMSCC). Even those who do not progress, however, will go home winners – taking part is its own reward.
