Faculty of Science Workshops

The Faculty of Science has 4 distinct workshop disciplines for your needs. The workshops provide this service to other schools within the University as well as being able to offer their services to outside interested businesses.

The workshops are located in faculty schools and buildings within the University. A short summary of their capabilities are listed below. Please see below for contact details.

Mechanical Workshops

1 on Upper Campus
1 on Lower Campus


The mechanical workshops have extensive precision-engineering capabilities for repair, maintenance, fabrication of equipment. Machining capabilities include precision milling, large-scale turning and various forms of welding to suit individual requirements. Supervising staff of these workshops can assist clients with instrument / apparatus / device development.

Electro-Mechanical Workshop

Upper Campus

The Electro-Mechanical Workshop is located within the mechanical workshop on the upper campus. Repairs, maintenance and trouble shooting for a wide range of electro-mechanical equipment can be provided. Staff can also assist in development of new equipment.

Electronic / Electrical Workshop

Lower Campus

This workshop provides Printed Circuit Board manufacture services as well as design of these P.C.B.’s for new equipment. Repairs, maintenance and trouble shooting for a wide range of electronic / electrical equipment can also be provided.

Glass Blowing Workshop

Lower Campus

This workshop offers its clients fabrication and repair of a wide range of specialized and standard scientific glassware. The experienced staff of the workshop can provide expert advice and information regarding your special glassware requirements.

High vacuum systems can be constructed within the workshop as well as onsite repairs to these types of systems.
