To the many thousands of graduates who have taken a science degree at UNSW and have shared with us over more than 50 years of teaching and research, the Faculty of Science sincerely welcomes you all. With so many changes in names and administration in over this long period, many of you will be more familiar with faculty names such as Applied Science, Biological and Behavioural Sciences, Science, Science and Technology and Life Sciences. Regardless of when you studied here and under which umbrella, we welcome you to the Faculty of Science, as it became known after a reorganisation on 1 July 2001. We reclaimed the name of Faculty of Science to bring together all the disciplines that have grown from all the above areas and the many new ones that have arisen from scientific discoveries and emerging technologies. We take seriously the responsibility of maintaining contact with you and helping you to stay in touch with valued fellow friends and teachers from your time at UNSW. We would very much like to hear from you: please tell us about your career since graduation, send us queries you may have about people you knew or about what we're up to these days. As you'll see from our news pages we're still busy and working hard at the satisfying business of research and teaching and building on the wonderful legacy of all those who have gone before us.

The Alumni Association works to offer you the opportunity to stay in touch with your university and benefit from that connection. The Association also creates opportunities for you to play a part in building one of the great universities of the world. The Association's Member Benefit Program provides a range of exclusive services for subscribing alumni. Subscriptions and contributions to the Program help the Association support initiatives that return real value to alumni including special events, activities, scholarships and awards for members of the alumni family. Our recent survey of alumni interests shows that many of you see the web as an opportunity for maintaining your connection with UNSW. Given that we now have alumni in more than 50 countries, logging on is the most effective way of staying in touch with each other! We encourage you to use the UNSW alumni online community as a place to meet and share ideas with other alumni. Member subscriptions and contributions to the Program have helped the Association keep in touch with members through publications and alumni receptions across Australia and in Asia. Many of our members have also demonstrated support for their alma mater by contributing to scholarship and research appeals and projects. It always helps to have the right connections. Stay in touch and benefit.
